Convert HEIC to JPG Online — Free and Private

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default image format used by Apple iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. While HEIC offers excellent compression — storing photos at roughly half the file size of JPEG with equivalent quality — it's not universally supported. Many websites, email clients, Windows applications, and social media platforms still require JPG or PNG format.

This free HEIC to JPG converter transforms your HEIC files to standard JPEG format entirely within your web browser. Unlike other online HEIC converters that upload your photos to a remote server, this tool uses client-side JavaScript to decode HEIC images and re-encode them as JPG files. Your photos never leave your device.

How the HEIC to JPEG conversion works

When you drop a HEIC file onto the converter, the browser decodes the HEVC-compressed image data using a WebAssembly-based decoder (heic2any). The decoded pixel data is drawn onto an HTML Canvas element, which provides native JPG encoding via the Canvas API. You can control the output quality using the slider — higher values produce larger files with better detail.

When to use this HEIC to JPG converter

  • Convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG for Windows users or platforms that don't accept HEIC
  • Convert HEIF images to JPEG before uploading to websites or e-commerce platforms
  • Batch convert HEIC photos for projects, portfolios, or email attachments
  • Free HEIC converter that works offline — no software installation needed

What is HEIC format?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on Apple devices since iOS 11. It uses the HEVC codec to store images at roughly half the file size of JPEG while maintaining the same visual quality. However, many websites, apps, and Windows programs still don't support HEIC natively.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The entire conversion happens in your browser using JavaScript. Your HEIC file never leaves your device — it is decoded and re-encoded locally. There is no server, no upload, and no data collection.
What quality setting should I use?
A quality of 90-95 is visually indistinguishable from the original for most photos and produces a good balance of quality and file size. Going below 80 will show noticeable compression artifacts, especially in gradients and fine details.
Does this work offline?
Once the page has loaded, yes. All the conversion logic runs entirely in your browser. You can even bookmark this page and use it without an internet connection.
Can I convert multiple files at once?
Yes. You can drag and drop multiple HEIC files or select several at once from the file picker. Each file will be converted independently and you can download them individually.
